Orange Park Safe Animal Shelter : {Jacksonville Event Photographer}

Yesterday I went to a local shelter to photograph some of the animals, in hopes to show the community what is out there. Orange Park Safe Animal Shelter is trying to help homeless pets find homes and minimize strays. Here is a little about them.

Prior to 1991 the Clay County Humane Society was a combination veterinary clinic and an animal shelter. In 1991 they decided to discontinue the animal shelter portion and concentrate on low cost veterinary services they had been providing which included caring for various species of wildlife.

A dedicated group of the shelter volunteers decided that the shelter operation should continue, so they began some serious fundraising and organized Safe Animal Shelter, a 501(C)(3) Non-Profit Corporation registered in the State of Florida with the purpose to preserve life and provide quality of life for lost and abandoned pets (principally cats and dogs) including food, shelter, medical attention-with spaying and neutering as the humane AND ONLY means of animal control-and companionship. Animals are cared for until such time as they can be placed in loving permanent homes. Over the years we have placed literally thousands of cats and dogs into loving homes.

We survive through private donations from private citizens and business in our community.

This is Drake. He was a lucky one today. He was leaving the shelter with his new family. He was adopted today. The family fostered Drake for a month before making him a permanent member of their home.
